UAE Allocates $10 Million in Urgent Humanitarian Aid to Haiti

The UAE has announced US$10 million in urgent humanitarian assistance for Haiti as the country continues to face worsening displacement, food insecurity and pressure on essential services. The assistance is being provided through the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, under the directives of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

According to Emirates News Agency, the programme is designed to support some of the people most affected by the humanitarian situation in Haiti. 

What Will the UAE Aid Provide?

The $10 million response is not focused on a single area.

It will support several urgent needs, including:

• essential food supplies
• shelter materials
• healthcare services
• medicines and medical equipment
• clean water
• sanitation and hygiene support
• assistance for internally displaced people and other vulnerable groups

The first phase will prioritise immediate needs in food, shelter, health, water and sanitation. The Emirates Red Crescent will work with UAE missions abroad, international organisations and humanitarian partners to coordinate the response and help ensure assistance reaches communities with the greatest needs. 

Why Haiti Needs Urgent Support

Haiti is facing a severe and prolonged humanitarian crisis. Violence, insecurity, displacement and disruption to essential services have left millions of people in need of assistance. United Nations humanitarian planning for 2026 estimates that around 6.4 million people more than half of Haiti's population require emergency humanitarian assistance.  The crisis has also driven large-scale displacement and severe food insecurity, while healthcare, education and other basic services continue to operate under significant pressure.  That makes coordinated international humanitarian assistance particularly important.

Part of a Wider UAE Humanitarian Response

The Haiti announcement also reflects a broader pattern in the UAE's international relief efforts. In recent weeks, the UAE has also allocated humanitarian support for countries affected by major emergencies, including Nepal following destructive floods and landslides and Colombia following an earthquake.  These responses typically combine financial assistance with practical relief such as food, medical supplies, shelter materials and support for recovery. The approach highlights an important principle of humanitarian action: help becomes meaningful when it reaches people in practical ways.
